Food was delicious! Corn tortillas are homemade. We ordered shrimp taco, pulled pork taco, and a fish taco. I order fish tacos often when I go out, one of the best fish tacos I have had! We also had guacamole & chips, street corn, and a pork tamale. Everything was excellent, we left so full! I can’t say enough about the guacamole! We will spread the word and be back.
The Birria burrito (16) was fantastic and super tasty! It was pretty large and stuffed well with plenty of beef. And I also got a pork tamale (4.50) which was equally as good. I’m so glad that they didn’t overcook the meat in the burrito. So many places overcook it, but Maiz’s had a little pink to it making it more succulent. Something about how the cheese was melted in the burrito really took it over the top. I can’t really explain it, but it was so good. Never heard of asadero cheese before, but now I want it and everything lol. The tamale filling was so soft and had amazing flavor. I would say 4.50 for a big tamale is pretty damn good value. The girl at the front who served me was so sweet and friendly. It does feel like a small family run place.
Wonderful food! And a great place to eat in the summer with tables outside. Plus BYOB!
omg finally some amazing mexican food that is also in a trendy spot!!! so hard to find in rhode island. love the location near all the cute wakefield shops. this was suuuuch a generous portion of food to try and we ordered guac for our chips. and then a chicken tostada that i inhaled. and my friend got a shrimp taco. their salsa verde is unlike anything i have ever had. reminds me of a palestinian hot sauce we make in gaza and sure enough they use raw green tomatillos. and the freshness could be tasted from the smell. super kind amazing service. glad we ate in the cozy house of a restaurant. their decor is dia de los muertos meets apple farms of RI meets PSL girlie meets spooky szn it's so well tied together. my friend that i brought is from south kingstown so she's gonna bring her family and all her URI friends.
The tacos are good size with lots of meat, we order 2 taco each. Guac was fresh. Best shrimp taco I’ve had, the flavors of the pineapple and chipotle aioli go so well together. Highly recommend.
Great good definitely give this place a try! Also larger than usual pescatarian choices. Sorry we ate the nachos before getting g a good photo! Fresh ingredients.
Great spot. The food is delicious. They have good weekday deals. The staff is always kind. Dog friendly if your dog is friendly. Thank you Maiz! Pro-tip: large parties can order to-go and plan a picnic in the park across the street.
Excellent burritos and we had all of them! Fish burrito, chicken burritos and beef burrito and a good portion for sure! The red salsa so so hot, so good and we couldn't stop eating it! Green salsa was great as well! There were signs up about being environmentally friendly which I loved. Mainly togo but some seats in the space. Highly recommend!
